While not a direct drop-in replacement, commercial chestnut orchards offer vital environmental benefits, including soil regeneration, carbon sequestration, and a severe reduction in petroleum-based inputs. We advocate for this low-input agronomic model while prioritizing the operational efficiency required to make it commercially viable.
